About Melissa Hernández

Melissa Hernández is an Associate at Marquee Advocacy Group, where she represents employees in employment law matters and injured victims in personal injury matters. Ms. Hernández earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, summa cum laude, from Florida International University and her Juris Doctor from UCLA School of Law. Melissa is a member in good standing of the California State Bar.

Ms. Hernández has dedicated her career to helping individuals who have been wrongfully terminated, faced sexual harassment, been subjected to discrimination and retaliation, suffered from unlawful conduct by their employers and been victims of severe accidents. Ms. Hernández works in the firm's litigation practice and devotes her time to serving people in her community.

While at the UCLA School of Law, Ms. Hernández interned with Public Counsel's Gender Justice Project, where she advanced worker justice and educational equity through direct legal services, policy advocacy, impact litigation, and community education. She also served as a research assistant for the UCLA Law COVID-19 Behind Bars Data Project, helping collect and analyze public data on the pandemic's impact in prisons, jails, youth facilities, and immigration detention centers nationwide to promote transparency and accountability in carceral institutions. Ms. Hernández was a Managing Editor of the UCLA Journal of Environmental Law and Policy and graduated with a specialization in International and Comparative Law.

While Ms. Hernández was obtaining her education, Ms. Hernández founded a chapter of Empowering Women in Law, a national student organization dedicated to supporting women pursuing legal careers. Through this role, she created forums for candid discussions about gender in the legal profession and helped expand access and opportunities for students preparing for law school. She was also awarded the Excellence in Civic Engagement Medallion of Distinction in recognition of her extensive volunteer work with Miami's unhoused community.

Ms. Hernández is a native Spanish speaker, having grown up in Bogotá, Colombia. Outside of work, she enjoys playing golf.
